Events
The Student Support and Advocacy Center holds events throughout the semester in the many different areas we provide. Students are able to view and register for our events via Mason360.
Workshops
The Student Support and Advocacy Center offers workshops for Mason students, faculty, and staff on topics like financial well-being, relationships, substance use, and recovery. To request a workshop for your class, office, or organization, complete our Workshop Request Form at least two weeks in advance. Both in-person and virtual options are available.
Financial Well-Being Peer Mentors
The Financial Well-Being Peer Mentors assist prospective students with planning and preparing for the financial responsibility of attending college. The FWB Peer Mentors offer presentations on Financial Aid 101 and Budgeting/Credit Basics. Additionally, the FWB Peer Mentors work one on one with prospective students to submit their financial aid applications and to understand their financial aid award letters.
Relationship Peer Leaders
The Relationship Peer Leaders who are tasked with expanding SSAC’s primary and secondary prevention in the areas of healthy relationships, consent, boundaries, bystander intervention, and sexual and interpersonal violence by facilitating workshops and programs.
Substance Use Peer Educators
The Substance Use Peer Educators (SUPE) at George Mason University is now a Certified Peer Educator (CPE) Program by BACCHUS Initiatives of NASPA! The SUPE group promotes safer substance use behaviors by students and works to positively change the campus environment and culture through outreach and education.
