Come join the Student Support and Advocacy Center and other University Life offices in celebrating National Eating Disorder Awareness (NEDA) Week.  This year our theme is “Come As You Are”.  We hope to provide awareness and education about eating disorders as well as showcase campus resources for students.

Event Description: Participants can write positive messages about themselves and others on a post it note and add it to our mirror display.

Tuesday

Love Your Body Week: Survivor Space

Hosting Office: Student Support and Advocacy Center

Time: 6pm – 8pm

Location: SSAC (SUB I, Suite 3200)

Event Description: Survivor space is a welcoming and confidential program for student survivors of sexual assault and other forms of interpersonal violence and trauma to join SSAC advocates and fellow survivors in community. During survivor spaces, student practice self-care and share wisdom with fellow survivors about survivorship. For this special love your body week survivor space, we will be encouraging self-care activities and conversation around body positivity, healing, and taking care of your body. We believe in community, all survivors can heal and grow together.

Event Description:  Discussion of healthy body image, along with knowing some of your healthy numbers related to your body.

Women's History Month Kickoff

Event Description: Women and Gender Studies will be kicking off Women’s History Month with trivia and self-care activities. We’ll also be passing out our calendar of events and making buttons!

Hosting Office: Counseling and Psychological Services

Event Description: Join us for an inclusive conversation about how body image and eating concerns impact our lives, no matter our multicultural identities. We’ll discuss current research and trends and also push back against stereotypes about what disordered eating and body image concerns look like across race, gender, and sexuality. We’ll also talk about the messages we regularly receive in the media and in our communities about eating, food, and weight. Come prepared to learn, discuss, and engage with others about this important topic; and expect to leave with tools for supporting the people in your lives who may be struggling with these issues.

 

Sustainable Food Cooking Competition

Hosting Office: Mason Dining

Location: Peterson Building, Test Kitchen

Event Description: Head Chefs will be conducting a cooking competition among students and teach them some skills to use and how to incorporate sustainable food in their every day lives.

 

The Power of Positivity

Hosting Office: Well-Being Team

Time: 5pm – 6pm

Location: HUB Room 2

Event Description: Sometimes the positive is hidden in plain sight. You don’t have to imagine it, all you have to do look for it! Join us as we use our magnifying glasses to train our eyes to look for the positive side of things and learn how being more positive can increase your overall wellbeing and productivity! Free snacks and give-a-ways will be available as well.
