Victims’ Rights Run/Walk 5k
Each April for the past 23 years, University Life departments, Mason Athletics and Mason Police and community sponsors have continued to honor the legacy of former student athlete, Aimee Willard. Aimee Willard was a Mason soccer and lacrosse player that was murdered in Philadelphia on her way home from a night out with her friends. “Aimee’s Law,” named for her, gained U.S. Senate approval as an amendment to the Juvenile Justice bill. Aimee’s Law seeks to punish states that release convicted murderers, rapists or child molesters if those felons commit another violent crime in the future.
The Victims’ Rights Run/Walk is an interactive way to engage students to help them learn about all types of violence to included interpersonal violence and raise money for a great cause.
